There is one perfect segment during the revival of Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein's sublime and challenging musical Carousel, opening tonight at the Imperial Theatre. For a brief bit of time near the end of Act II, you will be treated to an interplay of music and dance that will transport you as closely as you are likely to come to experiencing the magic of Richard Rodgers and Agnes de Mille (by way of this production's choreographer Justin Peck) at the height of their collaborative power. It is a pas de deux that will leave you breathless, performed by Brittany Pollack as the teenage girl Louise and Andrei Chagas as the unnamed lad referred to only as "Fairground Boy." . . .
